Pour-On Application Method
Your tub can last for decades. The surface won’t.
Over time it gets stained, dull, rough, or starts to peel. Full replacement is expensive and disruptive — especially in Chicago bathrooms, where tile, plumbing, and surrounding walls turn a “simple swap” into a renovation. Refinishing with a pour-on, self-leveling coating restores a smooth, glossy finish without demolition and without overspray.

What’s the difference?
Bathtub refinishing is done one of two ways: spray-on coating or pour-on, self-leveling coating. Both improve the look at first — but they behave very differently in a real bathroom.
Spray-on application
- Doesn’t rebuild deeper wear — roughness, etching, and worn layers show through over time
- More sensitive to daily use and harsher cleaners
- Overspray — heavy masking and strong ventilation required
- Often loses gloss sooner; may stain, chip, or peel earlier than expected
Pour-on, self-leveling coating
- Levels itself into a smoother, more even surface
- No overspray — nothing airborne in the bathroom
- Lower odor than most spray-style coatings
- The right fit for cast iron and steel tubs that are structurally solid but cosmetically worn
When the surface is only mildly worn
A light cosmetic refresh, or a short-term update before moving or selling.
Heavy wear, stains, previous coatings
A thin sprayed layer follows every defect underneath. This is where pour-on earns its keep.
Bottom line: if you want a clean, seamless look with real long-term value — and minimal disruption — pour-on refinishing is usually the better choice.

Frequently asked questions
What is bathtub reglazing / refinishing?
Bathtub refinishing (also called reglazing or resurfacing) restores the tub’s surface without replacing the bathtub. The process typically includes cleaning/degreasing, removing weakened layers, repairing chips where needed, and applying a professional coating system to create a smooth, glossy finish.
How long does refinishing with a pour-on coating take?
Most projects are completed in one visit. On-site work is typically 3–4 hours, depending on the tub’s condition and bathroom layout. In most cases, the tub is ready to use in about 24 hours.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. We provide a 5-year warranty on our work. With proper care, a professionally refinished surface can often last 7–15 years, depending on use and maintenance.
Advantages of the pour-on method
A proven way to restore a worn tub to a like-new look without demolition — especially effective for heavy staining, dullness, or surface wear where a thin cosmetic coating won’t hold up.

Smooth, glossy appearance
A self-leveling system creates a uniform, high-gloss finish that looks bright and new — no brush marks, no overspray texture.
Strong everyday durability
With proper preparation, the coating forms a solid, well-bonded surface built for daily use — resisting chipping and peeling.
Low-odor, fine for occupied homes
Low-odor and low-VOC compared to traditional spray coatings. With normal ventilation you can stay home during the work.
Easier cleaning
Grime and hard-water residue don’t cling to a smooth surface. Gentle, non-abrasive cleaners are all it takes.
Better long-term value
Compared to replacement — and to short-term cosmetic coatings — pour-on delivers years of service at a fraction of the cost.
Made for cast iron and steel
